The Bermuda Triangle : Myths and Facts
On December 5, 1945 five aircraft took off from Naval station, Florida into the Atlantic Ocean. The five planes collectively known as Flight 19 was on their three hour exercise of a triangular flight plan with the 14 member crew. The veteran flight leader Lt. Charles C. Taylor on the second leg of practice ascertained that both his compass were malfunctioning and the planes were flying in the wrong direction.Soon the weather conditions deteriorated and it was nearing sunset . Under such circumstances the pilots were supposed to redirect to the direction of setting sun which would lead them back to mainlands. Tyler was convinced that they were over the Gulf of Mexico, he made a series of wrong decisions changing the course which ultimately took them far into the Ocean off the radars and were never heard from again. Rescue efforts with over 300 boats and choppers combed through entire area.Till date no remains were found and crew is believed to have crashed somewhere in the Ocean
